Assign Pro guide
Connect a Jamf Server
Use this guide after the Assign Pro API client has been created.
Connection Fields
Assign Pro needs:
- Jamf Pro server URL.
- API client ID.
- API client secret.
Use the normal Jamf Pro URL for your tenant. Do not include temporary query strings, tokens, or copied browser session URLs.
Connect
- Open Assign Pro.
- Choose a saved service if one already exists, or enter a new Jamf Pro URL.
- Enter the client ID and client secret.
- Keep Save in Keychain enabled unless your organisation has a different credential policy.
- Select Connect.
After connection, Assign Pro loads the authenticated assignment workspace and fetches static groups from Jamf.
Saved Service Behaviour
Assign Pro does not silently load the last tenant and begin work. The saved service picker is there so the admin explicitly chooses the tenant before connecting.
If Keychain storage is enabled, future launches can load stored credentials for the selected saved service.
Confirm The Connection
A healthy connection should let you:
- See the connected service in the header.
- Refresh static groups.
- Select a target static group.
- Move on to CSV upload and preview.
If Connection Fails
Check:
- The Jamf Pro URL is correct.
- The API client is enabled.
- The client secret has not expired or been rotated.
- The API role includes
Read Computers,Read Static Computer Groups, andUpdate Static Computer Groups. - Your network can reach the Jamf tenant from the Mac running Assign Pro.
