Assign Pro guide
Install and First Launch
Use this guide to install Assign Pro and prepare the first Jamf connection.
Before You Begin
You need:
- A Mac that meets the current Assign Pro system requirements.
- Access to the Assign Pro app through the approved release channel.
- A Jamf Pro server URL.
- OAuth client credentials for a Jamf API client.
- Permission to read computers, read static computer groups, and update static computer groups.
- A CSV source file or the bundled Assign Pro CSV template.
Do not use production credentials until the API role has been reviewed and approved by your organisation.
Install the App
- Download or install Assign Pro from the approved JesTech Software release channel.
- Open the downloaded installer package and follow the macOS Installer steps.
- Open Assign Pro.
- Follow any macOS prompts required by your organisation's software approval process.
First Launch
Assign Pro opens to a management server login screen.
Enter:
- Jamf Pro server URL.
- Client ID.
- Client Secret.
Use Connect to authenticate. After a successful connection, Assign Pro opens the assignment workspace and retrieves available static groups from the connected Jamf service.
Saved Services
Assign Pro starts with explicit saved-service selection. This is intentional, so the admin can see which tenant they are about to touch before loading credentials.
When Keychain saving is enabled, Assign Pro stores OAuth client credentials under its own app service namespace. On later launches, choose the saved service before connecting.
Next Step
If you do not yet have OAuth client credentials, follow Configure a Jamf API client.
Activate your copy
Open Assign Pro and sign in with the customer account that owns your licence. You can find the installer and your licence details in the Licence Portal.
